. Richard Mescon has been named the new chairman of Shakespeare & Company's board of trustees. Mescon has served on the board since 2005, most recently as vice chairman; he was a partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in New York City from 1990 until 2004, when he retired from a long career in law. Outgoing chair Michael A. Miller announced the launch of the public phase of the Capital Campaign in June 2007, unveiling plans to renovate an existing building on the Company's campus into a state of the art Production and Performing Arts Center. The $10 million Capital Campaign is still under way, and the centerpiece of the new facility - the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre - will have a "soft opening" this summer.
. Charles O'Brien of Williamstown has joined the board of directors of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation. Berkshire Taconic currently has $86 million in assets and more than 500 funds and distributes more than $7 million in grants and scholarships each year. O'Brien, president and chief executive officer of South Adams Savings Bank, joins 19 other local residents who comprise Berkshire Taconic's board. O'Brien is past president of both the United Way and the Lions Club, and was recently elected vice chairman of the Berkshire Housing Development Corp.
