POWNAL, VT. -- The Solomon Wright Library invites town and area residents to join in the 2012 statewide reading of Paul Fleischmnan’s short fictional Civil War related novel "Bull Run." Chosen with the 150th anniversary of the Civil War years in mind, the book gives a "vivid, personalized portrait" of a war that became our nation’s bloodiest conflict.

The first great battle of the Civil War is seen through the eyes of participants, male and female, Northern and Southern.

Copies of the award winning book in paperback, supplied by the Vermont Humanities Council, can be picked up during scheduled library hours.

On Nov. 11, at 1:30 p.m., Veterans Day, readers are invited to meet for readings/discussion led by Pownal resident Dawn Rodrigues. Share your views of the author’s presentation of information, descriptions, the varied "participants" and more. Invite a friend and/or a neighbor who may or may not have read the book. Young readers (10 and up) and adults are encouraged to share in this poignant, thought provoking view of American history. For more info: 802-823-5400.
