NORTH ADAMS -- The Northern Berkshire Community will meet on Friday, March 8, from 10 a.m. to noon to focus on the challenges surroudning funding for our current regional transportation network. Forum participants can become part of the growing network that is working toward a more adequately funded rural transportation network as legislative bodies take up the issue this year.
Funding can apply to all forms of transportation, including our roads, bridges, trains, and busses, and rural regional transportation networks can get lost amidst all these competing interests. With a transportation bill under consideration, the time to adequately fund rural transportation is now.
Participants in the forum will:
* Learn about the current funding formula for rural transportation.
* Hear what our transportation network could look like with adequate funding.
* Learn how they can help us support proper funding for rural transportation.
The forum will begin with a round of introductions followed by brief announcements of upcoming events and new projects. Please bring flyers about your events and announcements as there will be a table available for sharing them. The forum will be held at the First Baptist Church. Organizers of the Friendship Center Food Pantry at 43 Eagle Street ask
In addition, please bring an item for the Pet Drive being sponsored by UNITY’s Youth Leadership Program.
