WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation annual fundraising dinner, "Local Flavors," will take place on Sunday, March 24 at 6 p.m. at Gramercy Bistro on the MASS MoCA campus in North Adams.
"’Local Flavors’ is a celebration of the great variety of products from our local and regional farms," WRLF Executive Director Leslie Reed-Evans said. "We hope to raise awareness of the distinction between preserving farmland and preserving farming. Purchasing local foods and value-added products from our farming neighbors keeps these farms viable, in addition to giving consumers a wide choice of fresh and delicious foods."
This year’s four-course farm-to-table menu prepared by Chef Alexander Smith will feature a third course cheese tasting led by Brent Wasser.
Wasser has learned the craft of cheese making from the Pyrenees to Sicily, as well as here in the eastern United States, and will share pairings of three regional cheeses with appropriate wine and cider accompaniments. He is currently Manager of the Williams College Sustainable Food and Agriculture Program.
Gramercy Bistro is located at 78 Marshall Street, North Adams, on the Mass MoCA campus. For info: gramercybistro.com.
The cost of the dinner is $115 per person, $100 for WRLF members, which includes wine and beer.
