WILLIAMSTOWN -- Dog owners who have not registered their dogs for the present year can save money by licensing their dogs before June 15.
Town Clerk Mary Kennedy advises dog owners that the Williamstown bylaws require payment of a $10 late fee in addition to the cost of the annual dog license.
Dog licenses have been available in the town clerk’s office since mid March. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The price for licensing a dog in Williamstown is $5 for a neutered male or spayed female. Dog licenses for those not sterilized are $12. All dogs over the age of six months must have an active rabies vaccination in effect in order to obtain a license. No license can be issued without proof that the dog has received a rabies shot.
Residents who are unable to get to the Town Clerk’s office can also mail the fee, along with the required rabies proof, and a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Town Clerk at 31 North Street.
