WILLIAMSTOWN - The third Summer Sunday on Spring Street, Williamstown, will take place this Sunday, July 21. The Sunday even offers a fun, activity-filled evening for residents and visitors alike. The event begins at 4pm and continues until the movie under the stars finishes. While there isn't any cost to participate, many vendors and local merchants will have items for sale.
The highlights for this week's event include a drumming circle, larger than life puppets by The Puppet Brigade and music by the OK Chorale and The Grizzlies. Food vendors will include How We Roll and Guys n' Dogs hot dog cart.
Otha Day will present an interactive drumming opportunity for friends of all ages. Otha facilitates fun and lively drum/rhythm circle events from the deep belief that rhythm has the power to build community, promote well-being and create joy. Working with groups of participants from 4 to 400, he supports awareness of the presence of rhythm in every act of living knowing that "your HeartBeat is the Rhythm of your soul."
Otha's performance will also be supported by activities sponsored by nb21 and The Family Place. As a way to remind people about National Night Out (Tuesday, August 6) and get residents comfortable with their local law enforcement agencies, nb21-Mt. Greylock and The Family Place will host a Crime and Substance Abuse Prevention Corner, including the K9 unit of the Williamstown Police, Williamstown Fire Department and Village Ambulance on-hand to highlight some of the work that they do.
Puppeteer Gordon Holley of The Puppet Brigade will be on hand all afternoon and evening with his larger-than-life puppets and interactive storytelling. He will offer performances and be greeting attendees on the street.
Beginning at dusk, Images Cinema will present Family Flicks Under the Stars on the Morgan Lawn (top of Spring Street). The featured film this week is "The Music Man." Movie goers are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair. Concessions will be available for sale. The event will be cancelled due to inclement weather. However, the Family Flicks will show regardless of the weather; their location will be moved to Images Cinema (located at 50 Spring Street).
Generous sponsors of the event include: Adams Community Bank, Berkshire Direct, Greylock Federal Credit Union, Images Cinema, Mt. Greylock Regional High School, Town of Williamstown, Williamstown Community Chest, Williams College and the Williamstown Savings Bank.
