The Friends of Milne Public Library's 25th annual Book Sale on April 19 & 20 was perfectly timed this year, occurring during National Library Week and leading up to National Volunteer Week. The spirit of volunteerism and finding new life for gently used books culminated in the Friends raising more than $25,000 to support Williamstown's library.
The multi-faceted event is a true community collaboration involving the Friends, the library, Williamstown Elementary School and Williams College.
Year-round organizing, hundreds of volunteer hours contributed by diverse community members, plus high quality book donations create a sale that draws area residents as well as people from surrounding states.
We thank those who generously donated and bought books, bid on silent auction items, baked for and ate at the Friends Cafe and bake sale, and participated in our iPad 2 raffle.
The following businesses contributed to this year's success:Adams Community Bank, Baby Cakes, Connors Brothers Movers, Golub Corporation, Greylock Federal Credit Union, Mad Macs, Price Chopper, Sands Springs Water Company, Stop and Shop, Target; Tunnel City Coffee, Where'd You Get That?!, Wild Oats Market, Williamstown Bed and Breakfast, and Williamstown Savings Bank.
Looking ahead to next year's 26th annual sale, new and veteran volunteers are always welcome. Information about joining the Friends and volunteer opportunities is on the Friends' website at milnelibraryfriends.org
