As a long-time resident of South Williamstown, I would like to point out that our own Little Red Schoolhouse, right next to the Store at Five Corners, is offering a wonderful assortment of art classes and summer camp programs.
IS 183 Art School of the Berkshires is collaborating with the South Williamstown Community Association, which is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the building, to give us all a chance to gather in the neighborhood and explore our creativity.
With the closing of The Store at Five Corners and the closing of the preschool located for many years at the Little Red Schoolhouse, a center for our rural community has been lost and it is especially important to support this possible new long-term use of the building.
There's everything from summer camp for kids to adult classes in jewelry making and drawing and painting and calligraphy and watercolor and even flash fiction. Some are one-day workshops and some are multi-session. Many classes are taught by local artists and writers and scholarships are available. Look at the website IS183.org or call 413-298-5252 ext. 100 and take a leap.
