I'm writing to express my gratitude and appreciation for the work completed recently by the Department of Public Works on the road and two culverts near my farm in Treadwell Hollow. The DPW's work was featured on the cover of The Advocate last month, and not only did the crew perform a thorough job - restoring the culverts and road to a condition better than their original - most distinctive was their sensitivity to our needs during the exceptionally busy summer season.
For farmers like us, the summer is high season for produce production and haying, and having access in and out of the farm each day is integral to our livelihood. The DPW graciously accommodated me and my crew by reorganizing their schedule during the long-awaited dry spell in July. As a result, we were able to bring in hundreds of hay bales for winter storage. In addition to their flexibility during hay season, the DPW crew also halted work and moved equipment whenever we needed to motor in and out of the farm with fresh produce for the Williamstown community.
I would like to recognize and thank the DPW for their exceptional and gracious work near my farm. The breadth of skills they showed on this job - from engineering to landscaping, environmental conservation and storm cleanup - really highlighted what a talented, hardworking crew this town has working for them.
Williamstown is fortunate, and we here at Peace Valley Farm are fortunate and grateful, to have such great Public Works employees keeping our town up and running.
