PITTSFIELD - Second-grade girls from Berkshire County are invited to a special Girl Scout bug program from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at the First Baptist Church at 88 South St.
Girls will be able to view hissing cockroaches courtesy of CatsEye Pest Control and ask questions about bugs with a CatsEye specialist. A special bug craft and bug-inspired snack also will be included.
The activities will complete some of the requirements for the Girl Scout Brownie bug badge. The cost of the program is $15, which includes a 2012-13 membership to Girl Scouts; financial assistance is available. Registration as a Girl Scout makes a girl eligible for upcoming local and regional Girl Scout events, including Girl Scout camp this summer.
Overnight camp is available in several regional Girl Scout camps and new bus routes from the Berkshire Mall and Lee Elementary School will be available for day campers to Camp Bonnie Brae in Otis.
Information about new troop options will be available at the Feb. 24 program. For more information on the event and to register, contact Girl Scout membership development specialist Rebecca Dravis at 413-588-2071 or rdravis@gscwm.org.
And don't forget the Girl Scout cookies!
