The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
NORTH ADAMS -- The Department of Conservation & Recreation’s Visitors Museum at Western Gateway Heritage State Park will offer an illustrated dramatic reading of Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m.
Washington Irving’s classic The Legend of Sleepy Hollow was published in 1819 as part of his Sketch Book and has been an annual favorite during the Halloween season.
Western Gateway Heritage State Park is located south of the Hadley Overpass on Route 8. The Visitors Museum is in building #4. For more info: 413-663-6312.
Woody Guthrie tribute
WILLIAMSTOWN -- In honor of Woody Guthrie’s 100th birthday (last July 14), the Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation will host a singalong celebration on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 3 to 5 pm. Big Band Jazz
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Big band jazz returns to the stage of Chapin Hall as the Williams Jazz Ensemble presents works from their traditional and contemporary repertory, for its first on campus performance of the season, at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26. This free event is open to the public.

‘Otello’ at ‘The Met’
WILLIAMSTOWN -- On Saturday, October 27 at 12:55 pm, the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute will air a live broadcast of Giuseppe Verdi’s towering masterpiece Otello.
Based on Shakespeare’s tragic play, "Otello" makes its first appearance in the popular "The Met: Live in HD" series. The Clark is located at 225 South Street.

‘Eat the Invaders’
WILLIAMSTOWN -- On Friday, Oct. 26, author and biologist Joe Roman and sushi chef Bun Lai will deliver a talk titled "Eat the Invaders" at Williams College. The talk is at 4 p. m. in Wege Auditorium and will address controlling invasive species by eating them. The event is free and open to the public.
Joe Roman, of the Gund Institute for Ecological Economics at the University of Vermont, is a conservation biologist and author with research interests in biodiversity and ecosystem services, biological invasions, and marine population genetics and ecology.
Bun Lai is an Asian-American chef, environmentalist, and social activist who is passionate about climate change, sustainable living practices, and rethinking the way "life should be lived and business should be done."
He is the owner and chef of Miya’s Sushi in New Haven, Conn, billed as,the first sustainable sushi restaurant in the world. Miya’s offers a large vegetarian menu, as well as an invasive species menu, featuring dishes made of foraged ingredients that are threatening to the region’s indigenous species.
