NORTH ADAMS -- On Thursday, Aug. 29, IS183 Art School of the Berkshires will join DownStreet Art for "Fun for Families: Creative Opportunities for All Ages." This free event, held from 6-9 p.m. in downtown North Adams, is offered by the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts' Berkshire Cultural Resource Center and includes seven new exhibits, a one-day gallery installation and a musical performance by the Vermont Joy Parade.
IS183 staff will be on hand with family-friendly art projects and information about the school's upcoming workshops and classes. IS183 offers year-round instruction for all ages. Visitors who are inspired by what they see at DownStreet Art can register for a class on-site.
IS183 has been offering high-quality fine arts instruction in Berkshire County since 1991, encouraging people of all ages, means and skill levels to enrich their lives through hands-on experience in the visual arts.
Classes and workshops for children, families and adults (anyone 15 years or older can participate in an adult class) are offered at the Little Red Schoolhouse in South Williamstown (through a partnership with South Williamstown Community Association), Citizens Hall in Stockbridge and other sites throughout the county. Course offerings include ceramics, fiber arts, painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, jewelry, animation and mixed media.
DownStreet Art is just one of the upcoming events where IS183 is offering community members opportunities to make and explore art.
