Guilded Cage shop

NORTH ADAMS - The Guild members of St. John's Episcopal Church will reopen the Guilded Cage Gift Shop on Thursday, May 1.

Items available in the shop range from home goods to baby paraphernalia, with many handcrafted, one-of-a-kind gifts for sale. The shop will be open Thursdays and most Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Spring cleaning

NORTH ADAMS - The city and the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts will team up for a good, old-fashioned spring cleaning Saturday, May 3, with registration at 9 a.m. at the MCLA Church Street Center, located on the corner of Church and Porter streets.

Transportation, gloves and garbage bags for the 17th annual event will be issued for all recruits, who will be brought to various sites around the city for a short cleanup shift with their crew. An appreciation lunch and closing remarks will be held at the center following the event.

fire safety

NORTH ADAMS - The North Adams Fire Departments' Fire Education for Older Citizens program continues to be available to North Adams citizens 60 years old or older.

Firefighters will come to a home and replace existing carbon monoxide and smoke detectors and teach resident how to be safe from fire. The program is free.

Firefighters are also available to give presentations for organizations with members are 60 years old or older. Info: 413-664-4923.

Women's workshop

SAVOY - "Coming to the Well: A Mentored Journey for Women 50 and Beyond" will be held May 16-18 at Starseed Healing Sanctuary.

The weekend workshop kicks off a yearlong program for women who are ready to embrace the next stage of their lives with strength and vitality.

Using a holistic approach that encourages self awareness, inner reflection and dynamic change, the weekend activities will include experiential learning, group activities and individual exploration of the many aspects of the self.

Registration is limited to 12 women and must be made by May 7. The cost of the weekend workshop is $350, all inclusive.

Scarborough award

WILLIAMSTOWN - The Faith R. Scarborough Community Service Award Committee is accepting nominations for the 25th annual award.

The committee will select a citizen who has demonstrated integrity, excellence and dedication in community service for the award, which will be presented at the annual Town Meeting in May.
