MayFest
GREAT BARRINGTON - Celebrating Construct Inc.'s 40 years of helping with housing in the Berkshires, the group's annual MayFest event will be held May 5 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Crissey Farm in the Jenifer House Commons, behind the Barrington Brewery, Route 7.
Twenty-five of the area's most popular restaurants and caterers will offer tastes of their finest foods.
The centerpiece of the evening will feature "alternative gifts" to which attendees can contribute. A number of vignettes will reflect the needs of neighbors at-risk and display the different ways in which Construct helps, whether it be with pots and pans and household furnishings, case management, financial assists or shelter.
In addition to benefiting Construct programs, a portion of the proceeds will also be used to renovate The Jordan House, a turn-of-the-century Victorian home with a carriage barn. Construct's most recent building project, the main house offers single rooms and shared, family-style living to "graduates" of Construct's transitional program. The carriage barn will be renovated into two apartments, with workshop space underneath.
Goal for the event is $40,000. Construct Inc. is
