Talk on Torah

GREAT BARRINGTON - Hevreh of Southern Berkshire will host Andrew Cort on Tuesday, May 13, at 7 p.m.

In a talk titled "The Torah as a Rite of Initiation," Cort will take his audience on a journey across the landscape of the entire Torah, with an eye toward revealing the inner meaning of its symbols.

He will show how the stories in the Torah, embellished by tales and commentary from the Oral Torah and the Kabbalah, can enrich the understanding of the creation of a human soul, which descends down a cosmic scale, level-by-level, from the divine world of God, until it is implanted in a body in the material world.
