The Last of the Haussmans

MANCHESTER -- Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning, in partnership with Burr and Burton Academy and Northshire Performing Arts, presents "The Last of the Haussmans" from the National Theatre in London. This high-definition broadcast performance will show on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 7 p. m. in the Riley Center for the Arts at Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester. Tickets are $18 for adults, and $9 for students and senior citizens.

‘Climate Change in Vermont’

BENNINGTON -- The One World Conservation Center in Bennington will host Dr. Alan Betts, renowned climate scientist, for a program on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. entitled "Climate Change in Vermont - What We Can Expect."

MANCHESTER -- People are the Subject of the Equinox Village Gallery’s upcoming exhibit from painter Gabi Moore. The exhibit runs through Nov. 12.

Equinox Village and The Greater Manchester Arts Council are proud to present "Just Seen," an exhibit by painter Gabi Moore. The exhibit opens with live music by Scott McCampbell and hors d’oeuvres from the Equinox Village kitchen at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct.18 at Equinox Village. The public is invited to attend.

Foreign language groups

MANCHESTER -- Sprechen sie deutsch? Parlez-vous français? Habla espanol? Brush up on your foreign language conversation skills at Mark Skinner Library. Burr and Burton Academy, Maple Street School, and MSL are teaming up again to host conversation groups in German, French, and Spanish. The groups meet twice a month, October-May.

The German group will meet Tuesdays at 7 p.m. French conversationalists will gather on Thursdays at 7 p.m. Spanish speakers can practice their language skills on Fridays at 3 p.m.

Those with intermediate or advanced skills might feel most comfortable in the groups. Beginners are always welcome but their participation may be limited to listening and absorbing the language until they are able to join the conversation.

The groups are free and open to everyone. MSL customers do have the added advantage of using "Mango Languages" and "Powerspeak", online foreign language learning systems available through their library membership.
