WILLIAMSTOWN -- "Curfew," Shawn Christensen’s powerful short film which won the Christopher and Dana Reeve Award at the Williamstown Film Festival last season - was honored with the Academy Award for best live-acton short Feb. 24 in Hollywood.
The Reeve Award - an original artwork created by internationally known artist/WFF board member Stephen Hannock - is presented annually at the Festival to the short judged most deserving that season by audience vote.
"Curfew" - which stars writer/director Christensen as a man at the end of his rope who reluctantly agrees to accompany his niece on a night out in New York City - is the third WFF short after "West Bank Story" (2006) and "God of Love" (2011) to win an Oscar.
"We’re all delighted for Shawn," WFF executive director Steve Lawson said. "He made a terrific film, and it’s great that Academy voters seconded the high opinion of audiences in Williamstown."
WFF’s 15th Anniversary Season will run Oct. 30 through Nov. 3.
