WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Trustees of Reservations and naturalist Pam Weatherbee will hike through Field Farm on Sunday, May 5 at 1 p.m. for an eye-opening spring wildflower walk.
Field Farm has some unusual habitats that produce an interesting and beautiful array of woodland wildflowers known as spring ephemerals, which have a short time to grow, bloom and set seed before the leaves come out and restrict the sunlight reaching the forest floor. On the two-hour easy walking tour Pam will introduce you to the fascinating flora of the rich woods, just starting to bloom. The walk is free and open to the public.
Field Farm is a conservation property of more than 300 acres, with extensive meadows and woodlands, four miles of easy trails, a beaver pond, and a variety of birds and animals. The farm is located at 554 Sloan Road. From Williamstown Center, follow Rt. 7 South towards South Williamstown. At the intersection with Rt. 43, take Rt. 43 West and immediately take a right onto Sloan Rd. Proceed one mile to entrance on right.
