WILLIAMSTOWN -- Images Cinema will show the classic Marx Brothers comedy "Duck Soup" on Sunday, June 30 at 7:30 p.m. The cinema partnered with the Williamstown Film Festival to present the film, in conjunction with WTF’s production of "Animal Crackers," a new interpretation of the Marx Brothers’ hit Broadway musical and classic film.
The United States Library of Congress has deemed "Duck Soup" "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant," and it has appeared on the American Film Institute’s 100 Greatest Movies list multiple times.
The film centers around Rufus T. Firefly, who is named president/dictator of bankrupt Freedonia and declares war on neighboring Sylvania over the love of wealthy Mrs. Teasdale. It features Groucho, Harpo, Chico and Zeppo Marx.
Ticket prices are $10 general admission; $8 for seniors and students; $5 for members and kids 12 and under. Images Cinema is located at 50 Spring St.
The only one of its kind in Berkshire County, Images Cinema is a year-round, non-profit, member-supported community film house that presents a wide range of films that impact filmmaking and our culture.
