WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Williamstown Community Chest is pleased to announce its Sixth Annual Fun Run, Saturday, Sept. 14. This community event consists of two races: a 5K Run and a 1-mile Kid’s Run/ Family Walk. There are prizes and ribbons for the top runners in both categories.
The Fun Run races are open to everyone: veteran runners or first time runners, along with daily walkers or occasional walkers. Families with pets and strollers are also welcome to join the fun. Both race events begin at 10 a.m. at the Williamstown Youth Center, 66 School St. The route for the race this year can be viewed at WilliamstownCommunityChest.org.
This year’s event offers several new opportunities, including picnic food and games following the announcement of the top finishers in the races.
"Running buddies" (experienced teen runners) have volunteered to run the races with younger, less-experienced participants.
Sign-in and registration will begin at 9 a.m. on the day of the race.
Online registration, as well as a printable registration form, may be accessed at WilliamstownComm-unityChest.org. The cost for the 5K race is $15 per runner. For the 1-mile Walk/Run the cost is $15 per individual or per walking family. For students and seniors the cost is $5.
For 87 years, the Williamstown Community Chest has provided funding to local human service agencies and organizations that serve Northern Berkshire County. They accomplish this through the generosity of business community contributions and private individual donations.
